I'm not sure if there is programming designed to interact with these little thumpers in the vest, or if they really are just meant to go off whenever there's a deep sound. Time may tell I suppose if I try more games. There is certainly something to be said for being able to feel a fearful heartbeat through your body in Phasmophobia, or being very aware of the massive engines behind my cockpit in No Man's Sky. I have discovered in a lot of games however, that the combination of music and Noise just end up generating a senseless Thunder of non-stop vibration throughout the body with no real direction or purpose.

“It sounds great after you get the right balance between the headphones your using and the vest. But be sure you do the headphones first. I use mine with my studio equipment as a songwriter and it allows you to feel the lower register like what is coming out of your subwoofer without blowing your eardrums out. It will also work out great when I am in a hotel room with my piano and don't want to disturb the other guests but still hear my music the way I like.

An open market for you would be taking it to music stores and selling it to musicians. I have also used it with my equipment and no headphones so I can feel the lower vibrations and hear my studio speakers so I get the best of both worlds. (By the way when you start selling to musicians I will accept my marketing fee. And if you need a great idea of how to do that seriously let me know because it has to be done right.)”

“You have to try it out to fully understand whether you like it or not. Imagine a more complex, stereo game controller wrapped around you with vibration turned way up. With music it's alright but not great with complex music. Games are where it's really blown me away! Feeling the rumble of your car, the shooting of your gun, or even just more sounds like a deep rising music bass as you watch the sunset. I do sometimes wish I could feel slightly higher pitch though. Overall a great product!”

“When I first saw targeted ads for this on my Instagram and Facebook feeds, I was skeptical. The idea of a device that could emulate and translate sound into physical sensation seemed like the stuff of fiction. It's the sort of thing that I would expect in a scifi show. Since I'm a gamer who plays a lot of first person shooters, I decided to give this a try. I bought the Woojer Vest because that felt like it would probably make me feel most immersed - especially in a game.

The packaging was very well done - the box unfolded nicely and displayed the vest in all its glory. It was a pretty dramatic reveal as I unboxed. I really like that the power adapter came with multiple different adapters so that people can choose which plug they want/need to use. The setup was relatively painless. I was a little confused initially because I use a Corsair wireless headset so I wasn't sure how to pair the vest with the PC and also the headphones. Thankfully, the FAQ/Support section had an article on how to dual connect to these two devices at once. The article was easy to follow and I was able to get both the headset and vest hooked up to the PC.

My skepticism turned into pure exhilaration and belief when I played a bass-heavy song that I could enjoy both audibly and physically. I also tested the vest out with Destiny 2. It was a fantastic experience! I could feel every tremor of the ground, every stomp from the enemy, every grenade explosion, and could even feel the sensation of getting shot at. I really like that there are many levels of intensity that I could adjust freely.

I'm so excited for this product that I have told my friends and family about it. Well done, Woojer! You exceeded all expectations!”

“So I give this vest a 4.5. It met my expectations in many ways, and exceeded them in many others. I use it exclusively for gaming and most specifically VR gaming.

First the pros!..

The impact and intensity of the vibrations surprised me, they are very strong. And I was quite pleased with how much "oomf" they bring. In some games I even turned it down a little. So that was great.

It DOES support surround sound and positional audio! Many youtube reviewers stated that it didn't, and the site isn't clear that it does. But if you have surround sound drivers installed, and your game supports surround sound, it will have positional audio 100%. Racing games in particular, when hitting the curb or edges of track with certain tires, will vibrate with those specific sensors really adding depth and immersion. Games like No Man's Sky with a low engine rumble, you can walk around the ship and feel the rumble move around your body. This blew me away as I wasn't expecting this feature. Many games either don't support it, or it doesn't feature in those games. But it does work in some and no youtube reviewer I saw mentioned that.

The immersion is fantastic. At first, it feels foreign, and it's really on your mind. But as you play your game and fall into the zone, it becomes background immersion. When you go back to playing without it, it feels like you're missing out on something and that there's a sudden void and dullness to the game. This def. adds immersion and to any type of game, from music games, racing games, exploration games, to shooting games.

The range of the audio seems good. It has a broad function and finer function. I haven't tested the finer one, as the broad one does well to capture the right range. It doesn't typically vibrate for voices, which is great if you play on microphone, or during audio cutscenes. It tends to vibrate for deeper noises like engines, impacts, explosions, gunfire, beats in music, etc. I think this is great so that it isn't just always vibrating, especially if there's a lot of voice acting or multiplayer chat in the games you play.

Now for the reasons I axed it half a star... The position of the audio cord is in the front, and comes down. This is okay for seating gaming, but not well positioned for VR standing play. You typically want it coming out the back, or going up. Now I get they couldn't put it at the back, for if you did want seated play it would be in a bad position. But they could have either placed a clip on the shoulder so you could merely extend your cord upward, and clip it off over the shoulder, or so that you can leave it down for seated play. They could have also considered just putting a second input slot on the top of the panel as well as on the bottom.

The other concern I had was the length of cord. Nothing on the site, reviewers, or packaging details lists the length of audio cable you get. I don't use bluetooth, I don't want latency and I don't have a bluetooth card for my PC either way. I had to buy a separate audio cord 15" to play with VR. What came in the box was something like 4-6 feet, and was ideal for seated desk play, but completely unusuable for VR play and they should have considered throwing in the longer cable for the VR market considering the price point of the product. Having to spend another $10-20 irked me.

And as a last minor tidbit, in some games, during some moments of overwhelming audio, such as battlefields with explosions and lots of gunfire, the vest turns into a vibratory mess where the whole thing is just going off at full power non-stop. Perhaps the more focused mode here would be best, or perhaps that's just what you have to deal with in those moments or those types of games. It's not a huge deal, and it's still enjoyable, but not as immersive as you're just "shaking" the entire time.

All in all this is a great product and I am very happy with it.”

“Ok. I’m not Pro or anything and I almost quit CoD. Then my Woojer came and gave the game new life. The experience is INSANE to say the least. I also like playing Overwatch Total Mayhem arcade mode. As a Junkrat main in general…oh my goodness. If you want to take gaming to the next level, Woojer is that next level.”

“The experience is awesome. The fit of the vest has a few negatives for me. I am 6' 1" and around 230 lbs fit bigger than average shoulders The vest is very similar in feel to a life vest one would have on a boat. The shoulder straps tend to rub my neck, the length of the vest is on the short side as it feels to strap way to high (intended?) which makes for an odd feel for fitment, the back is very thick and bulky so sitting down wearing the vest is awkward and uncomfortable, the vest does not have much give (stiff) or felxibility.

Now knowing all this I would still buy it. The experience is immersive and possibly the best representation ( feel ) of a concert without being at one. With gaming it brings the game to life. I wish there was a way to send the vibration of the controller to the woojer also, I am using a ps4. Someone figure that out and the wow factor will double or triple.

Buy one if you enjoy the entire experience of games and music.”

“As Deaf user, would be good to have one in the front in the vest as air pockets inside the chest cavity help carry the vibrations better than on the back which has the dense muscle and bone systems and the vibrations are not that intense enough. “I'm really glad i bought this vest, it for sure enhances Gaming and Music immersion for me. It depends a bit on the sounddesign and production quality if it works well but that should be clear before buying it anyways.

For gaming i so far tested it with "Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy" on switch where you can feel the boxes getting destroyed and slightly feeling the beat of the great soundtrack in the background really pumps you up.

I also tried "Borderlands 2" on PC and all i can say is that if you enjoy fps games this thing will be a must have once you get used to it. It's just really cool to feel shot's and explosions from the directions they're coming from on your body. Only level ups tend to be a bit annoying and i had to adjust the music in the audio options to 4 out of 10 so the woojer wouldn't vibrate too much from the sometimes really bassy soundtrack. I can still hear the music enough while playing though so it's not like that's hindering the experience in any way.

For music it's also really cool, i'm more into metal than other genres so i was scared that it wouldn't work that well since the ads all had some kind of edm tracks playing but i can assure you that it works just fine. To be honest i even feel that it works better with rock / metal than with electronic music because the bass tends to be more varied here. You also actually feel the difference of the instruments, it's not just a constant rumbling, you can tell when power chords and breakdowns are played and of course get beaten up by the doublebass in harsher sub genres, albums with audible bass make a better picture.

The Song "Kill" by Gorevent (That intro was one of the first things i checked out and it blew me away)

For more classic heavy metal i tried skull fists "Paid in Full" album, you definitely recognize the guitars more when the drum's kicks arent too far in the front of the mix but also might want to turn up the sensation to max.

One of the very best bands for the woojer vest are german punk-rap outfit Swiss und die Andern, even if you don't speak german check out at least their song "Saunaclub" when you've got the vest.

On the electronic side of things i checked out some old Dawn of Ashes, Noisuf-X, Angerfist and the new Agonoize album

They are fun at first and i actually had to turn down the "sensation" a bit because it get's intense with this kind of music, but since the bass is always so monotone and you don't feel the melody parts i gotta say i enjoy metal with the woojer way more.

Same for trap, i tried it with some german rappers like "zombiez" and "Crystal F", the sample bass just can't compete with a bass guitar in this case i guess.

Overall i would tell anyone who likes haptic feedback in gaming or the sensation of listening to your stereo on max volume to check the vest out if you have too much money laying around. If you belong to the second category your neighbours will be glad you did. ^^

Btw, wearing the vest is comfortable enough, i'd compare it to the safety straps in rollercoasters, also the sensation is more like an easy going coaster ride than standing in front of a speaker tower at a concert like so many say, since you feel more in your back / hips and front of the shoulders than in your stomach like you would at an actual concert.”

“I bought the vest to extend my VR setup. Partly it was my motivation to sell off some of the extra computers and other stuff I had.
I saw some comparison reviews and was intrigued that a vest could work in a game just by it having good 3d sound.
So now I have become an special type of audiophile and sound connoisseur.
A significant portion of the Woojer experience depends on what sound engineers did with sound frequencies that are outside normal hearing range. Having deep base in song or game when you would not expect it, or if they shape the sound different from what you would expect can be confusing or distracting.
The dream of having a haptic vest thump you in the specific location a bullet hit you in a shooter hard enough to leave a bruise will not be happening with this vest. An amazing haptic experience with any vest requires custom programming to the devices SDK. I would give the Woojer a solid 80-90% success without a developer or modder even needing to spend an extra minute integrating haptics.
I would describe the Woojer experience in vr gaming this way: With a little bit of effort you can choose the vests mode and intensity to feel good and not distracting in games that have decent sound design.
I'm not about to confirm the real feels, but bullets feel more like they hit a bulletproof vest then the real thing and are hard for me to tell the direction, explosions feel forceful, being on fire felt chaotic, fighting a dragon was way more terrifying.
Anyway, enough chit chat, got to get back to my games.”

“First I'd like to say what a wonderful product. It ecxeeded my expectations. It has also helped with improving my gaming experience. I play 1st person shooter games and man what a punch this vest has.
I have 2 recommendations to consider. If the straps had a small piece of male female velcro stitched into them that would be great, I really disliked the waist straps after the are rolled up and banded, they would hang around bouncing as I moved or walked around. I actually made a mod using mini zip ties to hold them upright, looks nice and stream line now. See the pictures on this. The second topic is the plug in for headphones and source signal cable. When I have to get up, I need to unplug the cable from the vest, not a big deal but seeing the the holes to plug back in can be cumbersome at times especially in low light areas. Suggestion, perhaps you could illuminate the interface area with led lights, or a less expensive way but still effective would be to use hi visibility neon paint on the areas where cables plug in. Neither one of these are a deal breaker for me, I think your product is innovative and really Awesome.”

“When I bought this product I really didn’t know what to expect from it. I primarily bought it for video games and actually I didn’t use it yet with music. The quality is excellent. The details are well done and it is very sturdy. Downside is that the vest is bulky and you need some time to get ready with it. I felt the first time I was putting on a parachute... lol... also the wiring needs to be addressed each time if you have your game system set up in a certain way. Also it will not work with Oculus Quest because the VR hardware doesn’t have a audio output. I tested it with 2 games and yes you feel the shake but it is more in a form of a rumble than differentiated for individual games actions. For example when I got shot in my spaceship I expected to feel the shot but again it was more of a rumble. The product is solid and sturdy and does what it supposed to do but I suggest you try it first if you’re planning to use it primarily with video games.”
